What is Classical Five Element Acupuncture?
Originating in ancient China, Classical Acupuncture is one of the oldest and continuously practiced medical systems in the world. This medical model is based on natural laws, which describe the flow of life energy in nature and in the person. This life energy, called Qi, flows through the person in channels similar to rivers that flow throughout the earth. When the Qi in the person is full and flowing, health is promoted. When the Qi is not full and flowing, illness can begin. Every symptom is a distress signal indicating the Qi is out of balance. Classical Acupuncture serves to assist nature in restoring the balance. Over time, even chronic and complex problems can be unraveled as the flow of Qi energy is restored. Acupuncture can also help with emotional problems, stress, and issues of the spirit such as depression and anxiety.

Everyone is different and responds to treatment in their own unique ways. Some people feel energized and revitalized mentally and physically, while others barely change at all. All of these responses are normal. The energy in your system has been influenced, a step toward the recovery of some greater harmony within. Your treatment supports you in being able to end your health problems on your own. Improvement can sometimes be noticed with the first treatment, and sometimes it will take longer. The process is unique for each person. It is recommended that patients allow for at least six sessions before evaluating how they are responding to treatment.

Additional Info > What About Needles and Moxibustion?
The needles used to stimulate acupuncture points are very slender, barely thicker than a human hair and have no resemblance to hypodermic needles. The finest quality stainless steel, pre-sterilized, disposable needles are used. The needles are inserted just beneath the skin's surface, and sensations vary from person to person. Sometimes, a person barely feels anything at all, or perhaps a dull momentary ache or tingling. Some points may feel more intense. Sometimes heat is applied in a technique called "moxibustion" where warmth is induced into specific areas using the herb artemesia. Overall, patients consider any momentary discomfort worth the effort towards restoring the balance of Mind, Body, Spirit.

Additional Info > How to Support Your Treatment?
Various changes, subtle or profound, may occur during or after the treatment. All changes will be monitored by your practitioner, who is aware of your general progress towards total well-being, as well as the specific improvement of your most important concerns. The responses to treatment will vary, due to the unique healing process of the individual. The frequency of treatment sessions will be catered to individual needs. Sometimes a short aggravation of variable symptoms will occur. When this happens it is a very good sign and should not cause alarm. This process is called the Law of Cure. It is best to avoid taking medication of any sort when this occurs. It is best to ride it out and allow the body to heal.
